Senior Accountant

Willis Scott Group is a forward thinking practice and we pride ourselves in offering high levels of customer care and a priority is to build a long term relationship with our clients.

We are seeking a technically strong Senior Accountant to join our well established practice.

As a Senior Accountant, they will be responsible for preparing financial statements for a portfolio of clients who will be sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Prepare self-assessment tax returns and company tax returns
  • Prepare quarterly VAT returns which may include bookkeeping
  • Provide support to junior members of staff
  • Meeting and liaising with clients

Requirements:

  • ACA or ACCA Qualification preferred
  • 5+years of experience working in practice
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to undertake Client Meetings
  • Ability to work independently
  • VAT knowledge
  • Experience in preparing self-assessment tax returns
  • Strong IT skills are required, due to the practice continuing to move forward in a digital age
  • Knowledge of Sage, Xero and Quickbooks are preferred but not essential

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.


Accounts Assistant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive team member to join our professional accountancy team. Ongoing training will be given to develop their skills within the Practice on a day to day basis. We have a Gold Training Award from the ACCA.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Prepare self-assessment tax returns and company returns
  • Prepare quarterly vat returns
  • Supporting and liaising with Client Managers
  • Liaising with clients
  • General Accounts Administration

Requirements

  • 2/3 years experience working in Practice
  • Strong accounting skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Experience preparing self-assessment tax returns
  • Ability to work independently with the Client Manager support
  • Vat knowledge
  • Strong I.T. skills are required
  • Knowledge of Sage, Xero and Quickbooks are preferred but not essential
